Do you dream of being a writer?

Maybe you dream of writing and publishing a book but tell yourself it’s impossible or just a silly fantasy.

Maybe you have a story to tell but don’t know where to start. You feel overwhelmed – how do you even begin?

Maybe you start writing projects but never finish them. Life always takes over and you’re frustrated, beating yourself up because you’ve failed again.

Maybe you’re deep into a writing project but you’re stuck. Your story isn’t working and you don’t know how to fix it, leaving you deflated and hopeless. You wonder if you’re really meant to be a writer after all.

Maybe you’ve finished your book but can’t seem to get a break with agents or publishers. The constant rejection makes you feel like a total failure. You tell yourself you’ll never be good enough.

Maybe you're a published writer, but you struggle to meet deadlines, finish that passion project, or promote your work. Deep down, you feel like a fraud.

Maybe the frustration, guilt and disappointment make you feel like giving up.

Maybe you already have.

We all tell ourselves stories like this. I know I have. And here’s the thing – the stories we tell ourselves become our realities.

What if you could rewrite yours?

Imagine...

  • What would life look like if you had a clear, purposeful plan to finish your book and get it out into the world?

  • How would it feel to show up to your writing every day with enthusiasm and ease?

  • How would your world change if you finally finished that book and put it out there with courage and confidence?

  • How would it feel to see your book in print? To hold it in your hand? To see it in a bookshop?

Not sure how to make any of this happen?

That's where I come in...

That's where I come in...

I’m Katherine and I help people start writing, stay writing and build bold, meaningful writing careers.

How do I know I can help you? Because I’ve been there.

There was a time when my dream of being a writer was a shameful secret. I couldn’t even say the words out loud. I struggled with perfectionism and lack of confidence, fear of rejection and painful self-defeating procrastination (OK – I still struggle with that!). It took me twenty years to transform all that into a finished novel and a six-figure publishing deal with a top five publisher.

I learned a lot along the way. I know how it feels to be where you are now. I know what it’s like to ride the rollercoaster of a creative life.

I see you. I know you. Because I was you.

I still am. Because the creative path is for life.

What type of writers do you work with?

I work mostly with novelists, short fiction and non-fiction writers, but any kind of writing is welcome here. I write historical and gothic fiction; story is my thing. I’ve worked with hundreds of academic writers too, on everything from essays to PhD theses.

What's the difference between coaching and mentoring?

As your coach, I believe that you have the answers you need and my job is to help you find them. As a mentor, I'll offer expert experience and guidance to support you. I blend both of these approaches to help you make progress, whatever that looks like for you.

Will you read my work?

Editorial feedback is not included in Writing Revolution. Coaching calls focus on you and your writing goals, not the nitty gritty of your work. If you want constructive feedback on your writing, then check out Writing Revolution + which blends coaching with editorial feedback, or my standalone Manuscript Assessment services. Coaching clients get a 10% discount on the latter, and you can add this to your coaching package at any time. I’ve had brilliant results from a mixture of both.

What results can you guarantee from working together?

None.

I’ve seen my clients make huge progress on their projects, publish books, win prizes and transform their writing lives, but their successes belong to them.

I can guarantee that I will support you 100% in the time we work together and that I’ll bring all the knowledge and expertise I’ve gained in more than a decade as a published author, and in my work with hundreds of writers, to every one of our calls. But what matters most here is you. Because no one knows what you and your creativity need more than you do. I will support you every step of the way, but I can’t do the work for you.

What is expected of me as a client?

That you show up for yourself by committing to this process. All that really means is that you are willing to be honest and are ready to make changes and move forward at whatever pace works best for you.

Can you help me find an agent or publisher?

No. This isn’t that kind of deal. I can help you with the submissions process, review your submissions package (for an additional cost), and help you determine the best route to publication for you. I can also point you in the right direction for a whole host of fantastic resources on the subject.

What happens once we’ve finished working together?

You’ll have the option to extend your coaching programme, over either three or six months, or with one-off sessions.

Do you work with other types of artists?

Yes! I’ve coached visual artists and painters with great results. Over the years I’ve found that what applies in one discipline very often applies in others. Creativity is creativity, whatever form it takes for you. If you’d like some help with other creative projects, please contact me via the contact page: https://katherineclements.co.uk/contact.

What are your credentials?

I'm a trained and qualified personal performance coach with a diploma from The Coaching Academy and I've worked as a creative writing teacher, mentor and editor for over a decade. I'm an author with three novels published by a top five publisher. With my editorial hat on, I've edited the work of hundreds of writers, from beginners to professional authors, including many prize-winners and bestsellers. Find out more about me here.
